Bowling Green, OH -- Martin Samarco netted 20 points to lead Bowling Green past the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 73-71, as the Falcons survived a furious rally by their Mid-American Conference rivals.

Carlos Medlock, who finished with a game-high 22 points, keyed a 22-9 run over the final seven minutes for Eastern Michigan, but missed on the potential tying shot at the end of regulation.

Bowling Green (9-13, 5-7 MAC) snapped a three-game losing streak, receiving 17 points from Steven Wright and 12 points from John Floyd en route to the victory.

John Bowler had a huge outing for the Eagles (5-15, 2-10) with 20 points and 17 rebounds, but Eastern Michigan saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.

The Falcons shot 56 percent from the field in the opening frame, including 4- of-6 from three-point range, to claim a 38-25 advantage at halftime.

Leading 61-47 with just under seven minutes to play, what seemed like a comfortable lead was cut to 70-69 with 30 seconds remaining. The Eagles also were within a point at 72-71 with 13 seconds left, but were never able to get over the hump. In the end, Bowling Green held on for victory by making just enough free throws down the stretch and playing strong defense on Medlock as the final seconds ticked away.
