Romeo Travis added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Zips (15-4, 8-1 MAC), who won for the 10th time in their past 11 outings. Nick Dials put forth 13 points and eight assists in the win, while Cedrick Middleton chipped in with 11 points.

Martin Samarco led the way for Bowling Green (8-11, 4-5) with a game-high 26 points behind 6-of-12 shooting from long range. Steven Wright turned in 21 points and eight assists off the bench, while Matt Lefeld had 12 points in the losing cause.

Akron shot 50.0 percent from the floor and made 6-of-8 three pointers in the first half to open a 37-23 lead at the break.

In the second stanza, the Falcons hit on 51.9 percent of their shots from the field and 7-of-12 from long range, as they sent the game into overtime knotted at 67-67.

In the overtime, the Zips made 2-of-5 shots from the floor and 6-of-8 at the foul line, as they claimed the five-point win.

Akron won the battle on the boards, 39-29, including a 13-11 edge on the offensive glass.
